Professor Lech Bukowski is a graduate of the Cracow University of Technology and obtained his degrees at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Cracow (doctorate in 1976 and habilitation in 1990). In 1998 he was awarded the title of professor of technical sciences and in 2003 he was appointed honorary professor at the Technical University of Clausthal-Zellerfeld (Germany). He has published over 200 scientific papers and is the author or co-author of 9 monographs in Polish, English and German.

He is an active member of the scientific committees of many international congresses and conferences (e.g. chairman of the Scientific Council of the Carpathian Logistics  Congress)  and a member of the editorial boards of scientific journals. Since 2002, Prof. Bukowski has been a member of the Siemens Award Jury. He has been invited as a visiting professor to universities in countries such as the United States of America, Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia.
